Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts.: I have an interview Thursday. → citycountrycat.tumblr.com

citycountrycat:

I think I have a much better chance of getting this job than most I apply to because it’s a step down (it’s not even the job I originally applied for with this company). It’s with a really great company, benefits etc. and at this point I’m so frustrated and fed up I would probably take it, if they…

So my last note erased my first I one. This is what I was saying.

It’s Important to think ahead. I was just offered a job doing camera operation and editing for a show and affiliate on the Outdoor Network. It pays 10k more than I make now with more room for advancement. I would be riding around on air boats and 4 wheelers and hanging from helicopters flying over Colorado and what not. Awesome job and basically combines my love of film an the outdoors.

Big issue is that the office is in Baton Rouge. I refuse to ever move back there for so many reasons that I could talk about for hours but that’s a different story there. Point being that it being in Baton Rouge makes it an option that I can’t really consider.

Just in gas (assuming it’s $4 / gal) I would be spending 5k or so a year. Then 1k allowed for car maintenance and that allows for one flat tire. I’m now down to making 4k more than I currently make.

The job would have me on location 90 days out of the year and the rest in the office or working within a days drive of it. Days in the office I would have to leave before sunrise and I wouldn’t get home until sunset for the most part.

I want to work in New Orleans. I would relocate for the perfect career. I say career and not job as if I relocate it’s going to be to start a whole new life basically. I would love to take this job I was offered. I would love to be outdoors filming. But I would also love and need the office to be in New Orleans.

In the end staying where I’m at will allow me to be able to take something closer and will allow me to be where I can catch an opportunity much easier. Sure I would much rather the Outdoor job over my current one. However, in the long run I know I would never want to commute continuously and I would never move there.
